PET REFINE TECHNOLOGY uses its proprietary PET chemical recycling technology to break down used PET bottles and other materials to the molecular level and remove impurities and dyes to produce and sell HELIX™, a recycled PET resin with the same quality as petroleum-based products.
In its Kirin Group Plastics Policy, the Kirin Group has set a goal of using recycled resin for 50% of the PET resin used in Japan by 2027. As part of this initiative, HELIX recycled PET resin has been used since March 2023 in products such as the 3L “SPRING VALLEY Houjun 496” PET bottles sold by Kirin Brewery to restaurants.
HELIX is chemically recycled to achieve the same quality as petroleum-derived PET, and can be used in applications requiring high quality standards, such as beverage PET bottles and cosmetics containers. Because of its characteristics, HELIX is also used in PET bottles for beer, which must withstand the internal pressure caused by carbonation. The use of the new PET bottle has now been expanded to 1L PET bottles used for KIRIN Home Tap. Through this initiative, the Kirin Group aims to increase the use of recycled resin and promote resource recycling.
